Mom pleads for help solving daughter's murder

COLORADO SPRINGS - The mother of a murdered college student hopes someone will come forward with information that could lead to the arrest of her daughter's killer.

Police found the body of 20-year-old Angelina Sicola in her Stetson Hills apartment one year ago today. The Palmer Ridge High School graduate was in her sophomore year of studying communications at the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs. Her death was ruled a homicide by strangulation.

Her mom, Pam Lively, says the strangest part of the case is that Angie studied martial arts and knew how to defend herself.

"She knew how to protect herself, she knew how to fight back," lively said. "How this could have happened is something that we really don't understand at all."

Tonight on News 5 at 5:00, we'll get an update on the case from homicide detectives with Colorado Springs Police Department.
