Three Fort Carson soldiers die serving in Afghanistan

The Defense Department says three Fort Carson soldiers were killed in an attack by insurgents in Afghanistan. They were identified Tuesday as 24-year-old Sgt. Joshua A. Lengstorf of Yoncalla, Oregon, 24-year-old Spc. Brian R. Bowman of Crawfordsville, Indiana, and 19-year-old Pvt. John P. Dion of Shattuck, Oklahoma.

The military says they died Sunday from wounds they suffered when their unit was attacked with improvised explosives and small-arms fire. They were assigned to Fort Carson's 1st Battalion, 12th Infantry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team, part of the 4th Infantry Division.
