Morgan County bans marijuana dispensaries

FORT MORGAN, Colo. (AP) - Rural Morgan County in northeast Colorado is the latest to make a marijuana dispensary ban permanent.

The Fort Morgan Times reports that county commissioners voted unanimously this week to ban pot shops and commercial growing operations. The county had been under a moratorium, but state law requires local governments to either lift moratoriums or enact permanent bans by July 1.  More than half of Colorado's counties now ban dispensaries or commercial growing operations, according to Colorado Counties Inc. Most of the bans were passed by county commissions, though a handful of bans were approved by voters.
