Motorcycle rider seriously injured in accident

A serious motorcycle accident closed a street in Colorado Springs for more than an hour Tuesday afternoon.

Police say a motorcycle was driving north on Chestnut St. at a high rate of speed around 2pm when it was hit by a car pulling out onto the street.

The driver of the motorcycle was transported with severe but non life-threatening injuries and was wearing a helmet. The driver of the car was not injured.

No charges have been filed yet.

Chestnut St. was closed between Garden of the Gods and Point of the Pines. It has since re-opened.
