Mountain biking restricted in Grand Mesa Nat'l Forest

Federal forest officials have banned mountain biking in parts of Grand Mesa National Forest because of damage to the forest.
The U.S. Forest Service plans to close several user-created downhill routes. The agency also plans to ban mechanized travel on designated ski trails during the winter.
Forest Service Supervisor Charlie Richmond says mountain bikers will still have access to more than 300 miles of trails. Another 27 miles are open only to bikers, hikers and horseback riders. Richmond said that new trails will be built in the next five years.
