The Mountain West Conference named two Colorado State University underclassmen as Players of the Week for their contributions to the Rams 22-17 victory of the University of Colorado on Saturday.
Freshman linebacker Cory James was named Defensive Player of the Week after registering seven tackles (6 individual), including 3 sacks, a forced fumble and four tackles for a loss in his first career game. James set a school record becoming the first Ram to tally three or more sacks in his first career game.
Sophomore place kicker Jared Roberts was awarded the Special Teams Player of the Week for scoring 10 of the Rams 22 points, and going 3-for-3 in field goal attempts. The sophomore from Mullen H.S. in Littleton was also playing in his first career game. He made field goals from 47, 48 and 32 yards.
University of Nevada running back Stefphon Jefferson was named the Offensive Player of the Week. The junior out of Visalia, CA racked up 147 yards in 34 carries in Nevada's 31-24 victory of California.
