Nearly 50 children were killed in southern Egypt when a train slammed into a nursery school bus.
The bus was carrying children between the ages of four and six Saturday and at least 47 children have been confirmed dead. Hospital officials say a number of injured children are being treated at two different facilities.
Families searched for signs of their loved ones along the train tracks at the accident site. Egypt's state news agency said the Transport Minister offered his resignation to the President, who ordered an investigation into the accident.
The poor safety record of Egypt's railway system is blamed in part on bad management and poorly maintained equipment.
