A little over 6 inches of rain fell in less than 24 hours in Rye. Neighbors say they needed the rain, but getting so much in such a short period of time made for a big mess, along Boulder Avenue.
Now, the community is preparing for the potential of more. A small group of neighbors have been out at Greenhorn Creek since 6 Monday morning. They have been shoveling dirt, piling up wood and stacking rocks, getting ready, after last night's downpour. " Some of the local community.. People have been cleaning out drive ways, rocks. Something to help keep the water down," neighbor Amanda Schubert said.
"The scary part is we don't have the equipment. Someone is going to take a risk of losing their life or get hurt. We want the best for everybody," Schubert said.
They are asking anyone in the community to help with building up an embankment along Greenhorn Creek. They are in dire need of sandbags in hopes of blocking off any run off from the creek.
