Some drivers in Pueblo now have a shorter commute to work. On Wednesday afternoon, Pueblo County leaders held a dedication ceremony for the new Pete Jimenez Parkway.
The new four lane highway connects Highway 47 to William White Boulevard in the Pueblo Industrial Park. The parkway was built to accommodate traffic to and from the Pueblo Chemical Depot.
"It also provides a very critical second access for public safety for the more than 5,000 employees who now work at the industrial park," said John Klomp, former Pueblo County Commissioner.
The parkway is named after Pete Jimenez--A Pueblo man who served during World War II and earned a Bronze medal and the Purple Heart.
