A new 105-mile bike tour around Colorado Springs and surrounding areas has been proposed to Colorado Springs City Council. The organizers of the first ever Tour of Colorado Springs want support for public safety and barricading from the city.
The major debate among council members is the cost estimated between $45,000 to $60,000. Some say they can't justify the amount when city departments are cutting back because of budget shortages. Others support the idea arguing the money will be returned through taxes from money spent in our area by event participants.
City Council will vote in two weeks. The date calendared for the bicycling event is June 30th.
