New Colorado Springs Council sworn in

Six out of nine strangers were sworn in to replace Colorado Springs City Council members.

On Tuesday a ceremony was held at Colorado Springs City Hall to formally induct the six new council members. In April's election, all of the incumbents running for re-election were voted out of office, giving the council a big turn over.

Mayor Steve Bach was at the ceremony and congratulated the new council. He said they may not always get along, but believes they can all work together.

"I think if we can have mutual respect and not take things personally, I think it is important to ask tough questions and we're going to have to make tough decisions, but I'm very optimistic that this group is capable and wanting to do that," said Bach.

The new council will meet for the first time Monday afternoon for a special meeting to choose a new council president.
