New details in Colorado Springs officer shooting

News First 5 is following up on an officer involved shooting from last month. After a stand off with Colorado Springs Police July 27th at the Camelot Apartments on South Murray Blvd., Officers shot 21-year-old Robert David Cole. Now an unsealed arrest warrant is giving new details as to what led to the shooting.

Cole is still recovering in a hospital in Denver, according to Police. He's facing several charges; including felonies for burglary and menacing.

Officers say after being called out for a domestic fight back in July, they found Cole with a handgun in the parking lot. They told him to drop it but he ran in and barricaded himself inside the apartment.

While holding a .22 caliber revolver in one hand and a kitchen knife in the other, police say Cole told them to bring the woman he was living with there so he could kill her. Later he used the gun to push out the screen on his window, stuck the gun out and pointed it at officers. That's when they shot Cole.

The officer is still on administrative leave during an investigation into the shooting, which is standard protocol.

We're digging further into the arrest warrant Saturday evening on News First 5 at Ten.
