New details continue to pour in over Tuesday's deadly officer involved shooting in Woodland Park.
Around 2:30 p.m., two officers with the Woodland Park Police Department pulled over Craig Bondo, 20, for driving a stolen Saturn station wagon along Highway 24.
While attempting to make an arrest, the 4th Judicial District Attorney's Office says Bondo tried to flee. During that struggle, an officer was hit by the vehicle Bondo was driving.
An officer returned fire.
Bondo was rushed by ambulance to Penrose Hospital in Colorado Springs where he later died. The officer involved in the shooting has been placed on temporary administrative leave pending the outcome of this investigation.
News 5 reached out to several friends and family members of Bondo via telephone and Facebook---none of whom responded to our request for a comment.
This isn't the first time Bondo has been in trouble with the law.
