While investigators with the El Paso County Sheriff's Office make their way to Texas, News 5 is learning new details about Even Spencer Ebel, 28, and his possible involvement in the death of Tom Clements.
Ebel's criminal past contains numerous felony charges from criminal impersonation to aggravated robbery.
While detectives are working to see whether he's responsible for Clements' murder, there is new information hinting he may be behind another senseless killing just days earlier in Colorado.
Thursday afternoon, authorities in Texas say Ebel shot at deputies as he took them on a high speed chase northwest of Dallas that morning. One deputy was hit, but is expected to survive.
"There are some similarities between the description of that car and the description we were given earlier in this case as far as the vehicle of interest," Lt. Jeff Kramer with the El Paso County Sheriff's Office said.
Sheriff's deputies put out an alert for a 90's model dark colored car that was seen near Department of Corrections Executive Director Tom Clements' home in Monument Tuesday night.
"We're certainly going to be paying close attention to any items of evidence on scene (in Texas) that are relevant to our investigation here."
Inside the car were some alarming items----a Domino's pizza box and jacket which could possibly be connected with the shooting death of pizza delivery man Nathan Leon.
Leon was gunned down in Golden Sunday night, just three days prior to Clements' death.
Now, authorities are working to find out whether the two cases are related.
A press conference with new information regarding this investigation is expected to take place Friday at 12 p.m., CST.
