DENVER (AP) - As skiers and snowboarders head online to book vacations and then brag about it, Colorado resorts are amping up their social media and smart phone applications to reach them.

Vail Resorts Inc. and Aspen Skiing Co. are launching new apps, and resort employees are plastering Facebook walls and tweeting about recent snowfall and special deals. Vail Resorts' free EpicMix mobile and online application uses radio frequency ID tags on lift tickets and season passes to track a customer's ski days and vertical feet logged at its resorts.

Meanwhile the Realski iPhone application acts as an interactive trail map at dozens of resorts. This season, users can also share screen shots on Facebook or Twitter and geotag powder stashes to find them later.
