A Colorado Springs man, recently charged with sexually assaulting three female children, was also arrested in 1987 on charges of fondling a seven-year-old girl. William "Bill" Whiting is currently facing three felony charges of sexual assault on a child by a person in a position of trust.
According to police, the victims are now ages 8, 11 and 16, however the abuse may have began several years ago.
In court documents obtained by News 5, Colorado Springs Police state that Whiting turned himself into police after his wife confronted him about the alleged abuse. The documents also state that Whiting admitted to police that he had been having the inappropriate sexual contact with the three girls over a span of several years, from at least 2006.
In court documents filed in 1987, Whiting is also accused of sexually assaulting a seven-year-old girl, beginning when the girl was five years old. In those documents, Whiting told police he was a family friend of the victim, and had also helped with children in the classroom environment. The 1987 arrest affidavit shows Whiting also admitted to police that he had sexual contact the child.
Colorado Springs Police are not elaborating on what the relationship is between Whiting and the recent victims in order to protect the victims, however they said he is not a teacher or a coach. Police believe there could be more victims who have not been identified yet, and ask anyone who has any information on Whiting to call police at (719 )444-7000.
