Twitter adds a new feature to help crack down on hacked accounts.
The new security tool is a two-step authentication measure, available to Twitter users as an option.
It requires users to input a code sent via text message to a mobile phone before logging in to their Twitter account.
Last month the Associated Press' Twitter account was hacked with an erroneous report of two explosions at the White House.
Apple, Facebook and Google have also introduced their own two-step authentication.
