The post office has a batch of new stamps and some of them are selling like cats and dogs--literally.
May was NewsFirst5 Going to the Dogs Month, when you shared hundreds of photos of your beloved pets. So we know how much you love your kitties, purebreds and mutts. It's no surprise that pet lovers are snapping up these new stamps, featuring photos of shelter animals who were adopted.
These stamps will be sold this year only, and are popular with collectors and consumers alike. The Love stamps are perennial favorites for wedding invitations.
Here's a complete rundown of the new stamps available at the post office:
Adopt A Shelter Pet Stamps - Likely the most popular of the newest stamps issued so far this year, these 10 stamps show photos of 5 cats and 5 dogs - actually adopted from a Connecticut animal shelter. The stamps raise awareness to the important cause of animal pet adoption, in addition to encouraging responsible, humane pet care.
Cowboys of the Silver Screen - Fans of Westerns, horses, cowboys and movies will like these stamps featuring all-time favorite American cowboy movie stars Gene Autry, William S. Hart, Tom Mix and Roy Rogers.
Love: Pansies in a Basket Stamp - Ideal for all kinds of greeting cards and occasions, the 44-cent Love: Pansies in a Basket Stamp helps convey one of the most treasured and personal forms of communication - "love." The very name - pansy - comes from the French word ‘pensée,' which means thought.
Katharine Hepburn and Kate Smith Stamps - You can't go wrong by stamping the images of these two most admired American women to your mailings. Katharine Hepburn was a great actress whose 50-year career made her an icon of the silver screen and a trailblazer for independent, progressive women.
