New State Senator sworn in for Pueblo area

The Pueblo area has a new State Senator.  Angela Giron, a Democrat, was sworn in Thursday.

She replaces Abel Tapia, who has taken a job as director of the Colorado Lottery.  Tapia was term limited and Giron was already a candidate for his seat when he got the lottery job.  She was selected by a vacancy committee to fill out his term, which doesn't officially end until January.

Giron will still face a challenge by Republican Vera Ortegon in November in State Senate District 3.
