Tuesday's fire on 3rd Street and Court caused the Colorado Lottery office and Pueblo Workforce Center to close as a precaution.
The intersection remained blocked off for most of the day Wednesday as fire bosses continued their investigation.
Six storefronts suffered extensive damage, three of which were vacant.
We've confirmed Johnson's Sport & Ski is a total loss. Office Systems Inc,. is believed to be a total loss as well, but we have not received confirmation just yet.
Many Pueblo residents are shocked by the fire that broke out around 6:40 p.m. Tuesday evening.
"It's disheartening," resident Brenda Gonzales said. "It's just really sad that part of Pueblo is gone now."
Inspectors are now tasked with assessing the building's structure to see whether it can be salvaged.
Because of the age of the building, there's also the possibility the fire disturbed asbestos inside the walls.
"I hope investigators figure out what happened and it gets straightened out," resident Ron Sturtevant said.
The Pueblo Fire Department estimates damages in excess of $1 million.
No word yet on whether any of the businesses will rebuild.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation, however, initial reports indicate it started in the attic above Office Systems Inc.
