NEW YORK (AP) - Add cranked-up earphones to the list of health dangers Mayor Michael Bloomberg wants New Yorkers to avoid. The city Health Department plans to warn young people they risk hearing loss from listening to personal music players at high volume.
Officials say donations will be used in part to pay for a social media and marketing campaign. Federal health officials estimate 1 out of 8 children and teens have permanent hearing damage caused by excessive noise.
