Obama heading to Louisiana for oil spill update

President Barack Obama is heading to coastal areas of Louisiana for an update on the latest efforts to stop the devastating spill of crude oil into the Gulf of Mexico.

Obama was to get a briefing today from Adm. Thad Allen, who is overseeing the response to the spill from an oil rig that exploded April 20 and later sank, killing 11 people. The president's visit, his second to the devastated region since the explosion, comes at a time of escalating anger and frustration along the coast and in the country at large.

Two workers injured when the oil rig exploded told Congress that the companies in charge cut corners and neglected maintenance in a race toward higher profits.
