President Barack Obama says about half of all Americans under 65 will lose their health coverage at some point over the next 10 years. As he again pushes for health care reform in his weekly radio and Internet address, the president cites a new report from the Treasury Department that cites data from 1997 to 2006 to drive his point home.
Obama says there's also a chance more than half of those under the age of 21 today will find themselves uninsured "at some point" over the next 10 years. And he says "more than one-third of Americans will go without coverage for longer than one year." He says he refuses to allow that future to happen and is again calling on Congress to take action "now."
Obama says his health reform plan "will provide more security and stability to those who have health insurance; offer quality, affordable choices to those who currently don't; and bring health care costs for our families, our businesses, and our government under control."
