WASHINGTON (AP) - The White House attempt to keep President Barack Obama's trips under wraps for security purposes briefly unraveled Tuesday morning.

An Afghanistan-based news organization, TOLOnews, tweeted a report early that Obama was already in Kabul. Others in the United States picked up on the Tweet.

The White House quickly moved to tamp down the story and seized on a fundamental mistake. Obama was still in the air and would not be arriving on Afghanistan soil until the afternoon, Eastern Time.

The White House informed anyone who asked that the president was not in Kabul. At the time, that was true enough.
