WASHINGTON (AP) - President Barack Obama and first lady Michelle Obama are having dinner with three donors to his re-election campaign and guests who won a rare chance to have a private meal with the first couple.
Obama's campaign is staging its third "Dinner with Barack" event at Boundary Road, a restaurant along Washington's H Street, a riot-scarred corridor that has undergone a massive redevelopment. Giving was not required but the campaign asked for donations of at least $3 for anyone willing to contribute.
The Obamas are joined by a nonprofit executive from Nashville, a former social worker from Wauwatosa, Wis., and a retired school administrator from Cambridge, Mass.
The president's campaign has emphasized small donations from the masses, pointing to such donations as a sign of his broad appeal.
