Protesters with Occupy Colorado Springs, the local equivalent to the Occupy Wall Street Movement, met with CSPD officers today.
Protesters have been at the corner of Tejon and Bijou, near Acacia Park, for 12 days, but recently started camping out around the clock. Police say by camping out they violate the city's no camping ordinance, protesters on the other hand say they're occupying and not camping and it's their right.
Protesters say their meeting with police got pretty heated today, and for now they don't have any plans to change what they're doing. Police told the protesters that they consider putting up any kind of shelter and sleeping, camping, even if it's part of the protest. Right now protesters have a tent and a couple pop up canopies set up. Police say as long as they pack everything up when the park closes at 11:00 p.m. then it's ok, but protesters say they aren't going to do that.
The protesters have been set up near acacia park for 12 days but only started occupying full time last Friday. If they continue to keep their tents up police say they'll ticket and warn them before they make any arrest.
