Officer fires weapon during burglary arrest

A Colorado Springs Police Officer fired one shot while trying to arrest two suspects in a possible burglary.  The call came from the 3300 block of Beechwood Court on the north east side of Colorado Springs around 1:55 p.m. Wednesday.

Two officers entered an open garage and confronted one suspect.  A single shot was fired by one of the officers, but no one was struck and no injuries were reported.  Two suspects, both males, were then arrested.

The identity of the suspects is being withheld at this time.  Under Colorado Springs Police Department policy, the name of the involved officer is also being withheld. He was placed on routine administrative leave, which is a common practice in a case like this.

The investigation into the shooting is being conducted jointly by the Fourth Judicial District Attorney's Office and the CSPD Violent Crimes/Homicide Unit.
