Officer involved shootings leave one officer injured and one suspect dead

Pueblo police are investigating two officer involved shootings that occurred early this morning.
During a patrol in the area of 11th and Greenwood, officers investigated what sounded like gunshots. During that investigation - police say they came across a suspicious vehicle that fled the scene and a vehicle pursuit ensued.
The chase ended when the suspects' car crashed in the 800 block of Craig Street. The suspects began to flee and one fired and hit an officer in the shoulder; we're told the officer did return fire.
Two of the suspects were detained but the shooter escaped.
That officer is at Parkview Hospital where he is conscious and expected to make a recovery.
The second shooting happened near Highway 50 West and I-25 near Elizabeth Street and may be connected to the first.
Police say they were investigating the first shooting when they were alerted to a "suspicious person." We're told the individual was "uncooperative" and was shot and killed on scene.
The investigation is still in it's preliminary stages and we will continue to bring you updates as they become available.
