One dead, one with serious injuries after crash in Colorado Springs

The Colorado State Patrol is investigating a single-vehicle-crash on I-25 Baptist Road exit that resulted in one fatality and one serious injury.
Officers say a 2006 Mazda 3 sedan was traveling southbound when the driver lost control and the vehicle traveled off the western off the edge of the ramp and down an embankment before it came upright facing North.
The driver was Ashley Brooks, 27, of Colorado Springs and was treated at a local hospital for serious injuries.
Brooks' passenger was 26-year-old Katherine Banzhaf of Colorado Springs sustained fatal injuries.
Both women were wearing seat belts but officers say alcohol use is considered to be a contributing factor in the crash.
The investigation is on-going.
