They're in great shape and play sports for a leading university, but a new survey finds nearly one in five college athletes is depressed.
Researchers at Georgetown University Medical Center surveyed current and former division one athletes.
Contrary to their belief, they found athletes still in school were two times more likely to be depressed than those who had graduated.
The researchers say stressors like pressure to perform well in games and in school combined with a lack of free time and sometimes injury all contribute to an increased risk for depression.
