Update: Emergency services confirmed that the mobile home at 35995 County Road CC.5 was completely destroyed. 84-year-old, Donald Falconburg, died during the severe weather incident, according to the Baca County Sheriff's Office. The National Weather Service has yet to determine the weather event that destroyed the residence.
The National Weather Service in Pueblo says one person was killed overnight when severe winds toppled a mobile home in Baca County.
The storm hit around 12:45 am near Vilas, Colorado.
A damage survey team from the National Weather Service to determine the intensity of the wind and whether the damage was the result of a tornado, microburst, or straight-line winds. The results of that survey are expected to be available this afternoon.
Gloria Jean said on her news blog site springfieldcolorado.com that a lightning storm knocked out power to much of Springfield. She said the storm finally calmed around 1:30 am after an hour and a half and that power was restored to Springfield around 2:00 am.
