A banker who was one of the original owners of the Denver Broncos has died. The family of Walter Carpenter Emery says he died Sept. 12. He was 92.
The Denver native graduated from Yale University, where he majored in industrial engineering. He later became president and then chairman of chief executive of the Bank of Denver.
In 1960, Emery and seven other men put together enough money to start the Denver Broncos.
The former Army captain was on numerous boards, including the National Western Stock Show Association. His family told The Denver Post that Emery loved fishing and hunting.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, a son, two daughters and five grandchildren.
