Oscar Winner Philip Seymour Hoffman Found Dead

NYPD confirmed to NBC News that actor Philip Seymour Hoffman was found dead in his Manhattan apartment Sunday morning. He was 46 years old.

He apparently died from a drug overdose. New York Police are investigating.

Hoffman is an acclaimed American actor. He won an Academy Award for Best Actor and a Golden Globe for Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture - Drama for his role in the 2005 film, "Capote."

Hoffman was also nominated for three Oscars for Best Supporting Actor for his roles in "The Master," "Doubt," and "Charlie Wilson's War."

He's also known for his performances in "The Big Lebowski" and most recently, "The Hunger Games."
