Overnight fire in Cascade burns two homes

One home may be a total loss and another was damaged during a fire in Cascade late Saturday night.

The Cascade Volunteer Fire Department received a call of a structure fire just after 11:40 p.m. on the 4700-block of Pikes Peak Highway.  Crews arrived and found one home fully engulfed in flames that were spreading to neighboring home.  The Green Mountain Falls and Manitou Springs Fire Departments were called in to assist.

Residents inside the homes were able to escape safely, though a pet in the home were the fire started is unaccounted for.

Flames also spread to surrounding trees in the heavily forested neighborhood, but fire fighters said they were never concerned about the fire spreading.

Investigators arrived on scene early Sunday morning to begin working to determine a cause.
