PUEBLO, Colo. (GoThunderWolves.com - June 10, 2014) - With the start of the 2014 football season now less than three months away, the Colorado State University-Pueblo ThunderWolves are receiving national attention once again as they were tabbed in the nation's top 10 of three different pre-season magazines that are now on local bookshelves.
The Pack, who have won three straight Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference titles while winning 37 straight regular season games, are tabbed third in NCAA Division II by the Sporting News, fourth by USA Today Sports and ninth by Lindy's.
The ThunderWolves are the only RMAC team to receive the attention. The Sporting News and Lindy's each ranked 25 squads while USA Today named a top 10.
Additionally, CSU-Pueblo senior Darius Allen (Sr., Pueblo, Colo.) was named to the First Team All-America squad by both the Sporting News and Lindy's. Pack quarterback Chris Bonner (Sr., San Diego, Calif.) and wide-out Paul Browning (Sr., Widefield, Colo.) were both Second Team selections by Lindy's, the only of the three magazines that picks a second team pre-seasons squad.
The USA Today publication does not select an individual team.
The ThunderWolves, who are coming off an 11-1 overall season and a third straight NCAA Division II playoff appearance, will kick-off the season on Thursday, Sept. 4 at home against West Texas A&M. The Buffs are tabbed ninth by the Sporting News and 18th by Lindy's.
The Pack then travel to Division I-FCS opponent Sam Houston State (Texas) on Sept. 13 before beginning efforts towards a fourth straight RMAC crown a week later at Western State. Sam Houston State was tabbed 18th in Lindy's Division I-FCS rankings.
