COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Waymon James (TCU), Jon Davis (Air Force) and Parker Herrington (Air Force) are the Mountain West Players of the Week for games through Nov. 5. Davis is being honored for the second time in his career, while James and Herrington are receiving their first career weekly accolades.
OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
WAYMON JAMES, TCU
Sophomore, Running Back, Sherman, Texas/Sherman HS
Waymon James rushed for a career-high 181 yards on 12 carries in TCU's 31-20 win at Wyoming. James, whose career-long 74-yard run on the Horned Frogs' first play of the fourth quarter set up the team's final touchdown, amassed 117 yards on five carries in the final period. James' 181 rushing yards marks his second 100-yard rushing effort of the season (third career) and is the fifth-highest single-game total in the Mountain West in 2011.
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
JON DAVIS, AIR FORCE
Senior, Defensive Back, Cincinnati, Ohio/Winton Woods HS
Jon Davis tied a career-high with 12 tackles as Air Force captured the Commander-In-Chief's Trophy for the second consecutive year with a 24-14 victory over Army. Davis, who has posted double-digit tackle totals in four games this season, also ended a pair of late Army drives with his defensive efforts. On the Black Knights' first drive of the fourth quarter, Davis forced and recovered a fumble to give the Falcons possession of the ball with a 24-14 lead and 13:27 remaining in the game. On Army's next drive, he intercepted a pass with 3:53 left to play, returning the pick 20 yards to set up Air Force's final drive.
SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK
PARKER HERRINGTON, AIR FORCE
Junior, Placekicker, Clearfield, Pa./Clearfield HS
Parker Herrington kicked a career-high and three field goals in the Falcons' 24-14 win over Army, the fifth time this season he has connected on multiple field goals in a game. Herrington, who delivered field goals of 37 and 39 yards (twice), improved to 10-of-10 on the season inside 40 yards. The three field goals are the most made by a MW player in a single game this season. Herrington has made 12-of-13 field-goal attempts overall and nine straight in 2011.
