Parks district explored

It won't be a walk in the park.

"With the struggles that we've seen in parks and general and the budgets of both the city and the county I think that it only makes sense on a more regional basis," said El Paso County Commissioner Sallie Clark.

County and city leaders are talking about working together to form a parks district to help save money and save area parks.  It will take a lot of work.  "Our citizens want us to look at better ways to partner together," she said.

It's not an entirely new concept. There was a parks district several years ago that was dissolved because it was an economically stronger time. Now that times are tough again they're revisiting it -- hard at work to save the places where people play.

If a parks district looks like a viable solution, it would be put on the ballot for everyone to weigh in.
