The Humane Society of the Pikes Peak Region raised $85,000 last Saturday at the 2nd annual PawtoberFest 5k. The money will be used for the Humane Society's programs.

"We had hoped to increase this 2nd year event by doubling it," says the President & CEO Jan McHugh-Smith. "At the end of the day, due to incredible community support, we increased this event 10 fold. We are delighted and appreciate all those who helped us raise even more money by collecting pledges from their family and friends to benefit homeless and abused animals."

News First 5 was a proud sponsor of the event.
