"Pedophile's Guide" author now "mildly nervous"

For Phillip Greaves, his e-book, A Pedophile's Guide to Love and Pleasure, has stoked a firestorm of controversy the past 48 hours.

Reporters have made several stops by his home in the past two days.

Greaves told News First 5 that the book hadn't sold any copies until Wednesday. Then he says it sold 283 copies, but that was before it was taken down.

Much of the public outcry was for Amazon.com to pull it from its virtual book shelf.

"As far as I know they're not pulling it," Greaves told News First 5 on Wednesday.

That same night, Amazon told News First 5, "It is censorship not to sell certain books simply because we or others believe their message is objectionable." Yet today, without issuing anything new, the book was pulled from the website.

The removal of the book may have been a relief for some, but Pueblo Police were still concerned. In fact, they are investigating at least one death threat against Greaves.

When asked is Greaves should be nervous right now, Detective Daniel Anderson with the Pueblo Police Department replied that Greaves should be, "aware of his surroundings." He says the book is making him a very unpopular person.

Detective Anderson and others visited Greaves Thursday; he says everything they saw, and have seen, is okay.

"We can't find that he's got any history involving children what-so-ever," says Det. Anderson. "We've actually talked to the District Attorney's (office) about it, they said there is nothing illegal with what he's done; freedom of speech."

As for the threat against Greaves, the first he knew of it was when Pueblo police told him on Thursday.

"I choose not to worry about it," Greaves told reporters outside his home Wednesday.

Thursday he changed his tune, saying he's now "mildly" concerned. Greaves does believe this will blow over.

In the mean time Greaves says he is revising the book, and plans to try to sell it again. He also says he's working on another project; a novel. Greaves says it will likely deal with pedophilia in part, but emphasizes that it will not be the focus of the book. Greaves says he feels that his previous books have already covered that in enough depth.
