Person of interest in Clements murder, James Lohr, appears before judge

Suspect and 211 crew member James Lohr was in court for a first appearance Thursday morning. Lohr was arrested by Colorado Springs Police on April 5th on several warrants out of Las Animas County. Police say he is a person of interest in connection with the murder of Colorado Department of Corrections Director Tom Clements.

Judge William Bain granted Lohr a public defender in court Thursday morning for felony charges he's facing from a police chase the morning he was arrested on April 5th. In all, he's facing 9 complaint and information charges, which include vehicular eluding, unlawful possession of a weapon, tampering with evidence and a misdemeanor of reckless driving.

His bond remains at $250,000 and he will be back in court on May 9.

As far as his connection to the murder of Clements, the El Paso County Sheriff's Department said the investigation remains active and no additional information is being released at this time.

Investigators say James Lohr is a member of the 211 Crew which is a white supremacist prison gang that Evan Ebel was also a member of, Ebel is the chief suspect in the murder of Tom Clements
