Personal robberies on the rise in Colorado Springs

Around 1:30 Tuesday morning two people were robbed at gunpoint and pistol whipped at the Windmill apartment complex on Murray and Lacy. "The victims were driving in the area and had another vehicle cut them off, and stopped them right where they were." explains Sgt. Steve Noblitt with CSPD.

It seems robberies like these are on the rise in the area. "We have noticed a slight increase in the personal robberies in Colorado Springs, specifically in the southeast part of the city." says Noblitt. Police are investigating the robberies but details from witnesses have been hazy.

If you're ever faced with a situation like this, there are some things you should look for. "Specifically scars, any marks or tattoos. Some people like to wear specific kinds of jewelry." explains Noblitt. By being aware, you can help catch these criminals before they strike again, "Be a good witness." says Noblitt, "So that when we do get dispatched to these things it helps us put an end to them."

Police ask you to call them immediately if you have any information on the robberies in the Sand Creek area.
