FORT COLLINS, Colo. (AP) - A witness has told investigators that a glider appeared to perform an upside-down maneuver before it crashed in northern Colorado, killing the pilot.

A National Transportation Safety Board released a preliminary report on the crash today. It says the witness watched the glider make a loop after the upside-down maneuver, then descend and disappear below the terrain. The crash occurred March 20 north of Fort Collins. The Larimer County coroner's office has identified the victim as 82-year-old Alfred Otto Herr of Fort Collins. The NTSB says he was the only person on board.

The preliminary report didn't suggest a cause.
