Plea in works for ex-CIA contractor

DENVER (AP) - A former CIA contractor involved in a fatal shootout in Pakistan who was then charged in Colorado after a fight over a parking space could have his charges reduced to a misdemeanor if he writes a letter of apology.

Raymond Allen Davis is charged with felony assault and misdemeanor disorderly conduct over the fight. Under a proposed plea agreement obtained Tuesday from alleged victim Jeff Maes' attorney, Larry Klayman, Davis would plead guilty to a misdemeanor third-degree assault charge and get probation. Other charges would be dropped.

Davis' attorney did not return a message.

Klayman filed a lawsuit in December 2011 seeking unspecified damages arising from the fight outside a Highlands Ranch bagel shop in October 2011.

Prosecutors declined to comment, saying plea negotiations are scheduled in court Feb. 11.
