It's been over a year and a half and police are still arresting people for looting during the Waldo Canyon Fire. Roughly 65 burglary cases were reported during the fire as thieves took advantage of evacuated homes and neighborhoods.
In one case on Raven Hills Court, Colorado Springs Police found a home ransacked and a stolen van filled with the home owners' property nearby.
But no suspects were ever found, until now.
Detectives said they used DNA evidence to charge 20-year-old Graylon Thomas with the crime. He's in the Pueblo County Jail on unrelated charges, with a $50,000 there for various charges, including assault on a peace officer.
His bond for the Raven Hills Ct. burglary is set at $100,000. While he remains in jail, police are searching for another suspect and possibly more crimes.
"We're still investigating as whether Mr. Thomas and the other individual may have been involved in other burglaries in which property may not have been recovered," said CSPD Spokesperson, Larry Herbert.
Detectives are continuing to follow leads in the case and are asking the public to call police with any information.
