Police look for victims of alleged impersonator

After an investigation that lasted more than two months, Colorado Springs Police have arrested Jason Doorenbos-Parry, 25, on charges of impersonating a police officer and possession of a weapon by a previous offender.

An investigatin began after citizens claimed they had been stopped by Doorenbos-Parry for alleged traffic violations, and trespassing.  On February 4 search warrants were issued for his home and vehicle.

Investigators now believe he was operating an unlicensed security company, was not licensed as a security officer and was carrying equipment without proper certifications.

Officers said he would stop vehicles in a very similar way an officer would.  Investigators believe many of those stops were not reported and they would like to hear about it.  If you believe you were stopped illegally call the Colorado Springs Police Department at 444-7000.

Investigators have asked the media not to use the suspect's picture because they do not want to taint any memories witnesses may have.

Doorenbos-Parry was driving a red 1995 Mercury Mystique with extra lights mounted on the front and rear dash, front bumper, upper windshield and back window.  He is white, 25 years of age, approximately 5'10", 145 pounds and was dressed in a security uniform similar to those worn by local police agencies.
