State wildlife officials investigating a fatal grizzly bear attack outside Yellowstone National Park are looking into allegations that a photographer might have been baiting wildlife in the area.
Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks Department spokesman Ron Aasheim told KTVQ-TV in Billings Tuesday that the agency is investigating the allegations. He says the department is looking into anything that might help explain why the grizzly bear attacked the campers last week near Cooke City.
Forty-eight-year-old Kevin Kammer of Grand Rapids, Michigan, was killed, and two other people - a woman from London, Ontario, and a man from Colorado - were injured in the nighttime attacks at the Soda Butte Campground.
The female bear was euthanized and a necropsy done. Wildlife biologists say the bear was underweight but not starving.
Her three cubs were moved to a zoo in Billings.
