A Pikes Peak Community College (PPCC) officer was assaulted on Friday morning at the college's downtown campus.

PPCC Officer McCormick entered a struggle with suspect, Lorie Lamonte, who would not leave the campus. Soon after, Lamonte gained control over Officer McCormick's handcuffs, McCormick tased Lamonte; however, Lamonte pulled the probes out, and later hit McCormick in the head.

CSPD Officer Husted was dispatched to the campus for help. Lamonte was eventually caught and charged with Second Degree Assault on a Police Officer and Resisting Arrest and booked into the Criminal Justice Center.

News 5 called both PPCC's department of public safety and CSPD. PPCC's department of public safety could not provide any more information about the incident until Monday. Colorado Springs police were also called for more details and they deferred to PPCC's department of public safety.
