Preparing for the snow storm

A beautiful sunny fall day in Colorado can quickly turn into a snow storm. Today people are getting ready for dramatic weather changes that are expected to sweep through the state later on tonight. C-DOT is preparing dozens of its trucks to hit the road ahead of the storm.

"[We'll] be putting all of our snow plows back on", said Gary Heller. "Putting all of our de-icing units back in our trucks [and] we'll be doing a lot of equipment inspections"

Tire shops across the city have been bombarded with customers, making sure they're prepared for the icy road conditions.

"It has been busy all day long which is what we've expected", said Ernie Pino with Discount Tires. "It's snow season."

But not everyone is worried.

"I'm a native Coloradan. And you know, we see it come and go. It can pound us like heck and then the next day its almost gone", said Sylvia Rice.

C-DOT is warning drivers to be careful.

"Be very observant when the temperature drops and there is precipitation on the roadway", said Gary Heller. "Don't make an assumption that the road doesn't have ice on it. Drive slowly."
