President Obama heads back to Colorado next week

President Barack Obama is returning to Colorado next week to try to steal the spotlight from the Republican National Convention.

Obama is scheduled to address a rally at CSU Fort Collins on Tuesday evening, just as the Republicans' convention in Tampa heads toward its climax.

Mitt Romney is scheduled to accept the GOP nomination there on Wednesday.

Obama had been hammering the Romney-Ryan ticket for proposing what he contends are cuts to student aid in their austerity budget.

His trip to Colorado will be sandwiched between appearances at university towns in Iowa and Virginia.

Both states are vital swing states in November.

Colorado, where Obama spent two days earlier this month, has additional symbolic significance.

It is where Obama accepted the Democratic party's nomination for president four years ago.
