BOULDER, Colo. (AP) - A Frederick man accused of taking trust fund money from two of his adoptive children has been sentenced to three years in prison.
Gary Moore and his wife were arrested in April after an investigation found more than $65,000 was taken from a trust fund for a girl they had adopted but later gave up. Investigators determined the couple falsified documents claiming guardianship of her to access the funds.
After the couple's arrest, another adult adoptive child reported they had taken his trust fund money.
Moore pleaded guilty to felony theft and was sentenced Friday. His wife pleaded guilty to the same charge and is awaiting sentencing.
The Times-Call reports Moore said he took the couple took the money to cover expenses after a job loss.
